Time for a fun new challenge for you writers. The prompt: Keep it under 600 words.
A deathbed confession. Go crazy on what's being confessed. Make it nice and juicy. Who are they? Whose deathbed is this? Who are they? How old are they? It doesn't have to be like an old person. It could be a younger person. What are they dying of?
There's a family moving into a new house in a lovely city somewhere in America. But why? It's because they had to move across the country to escape the exposure of a secret in their former hometown. And you see the neighbor's curtains twitching as they move in.
A family member in a dysfunctional family starts to hint, maybe it's Thanksgiving Day, they that they are going to reveal this awful family secret. The fact that they're hinting at it means the facade is cracking. What are the reactions of the other family members? They're trying to keep poised, but they know that the facade is about to crack, and maybe the family is about to collapse. Perhaps one of the other family members makes a nuanced plea to not go down that awful path because the stakes are so high.
